Upper County Quilt Show 2024

Upper County Quilt Show 2024

In June, 2024, we attended the 3rd annual Upper County quilt show in Cambridge, Idaho which has a population of only 335, located in Washington County (population 11k). For a location with this population – there sure were a lot of wonderful quilts to look at. I got a picture of a few before finding out both camera batteries quickly went dead. This quilt show is open for an entire week at the local school so there is plenty of time to be able to see it.

Here’s a picture of the gymnasium that was hosting the event.

The challenge block for the quilt show was themed to “Country Living” – any idea that represents country living to the quilter was represented.

These two quilts should have been displayed right next to each other – I think cats have a particular fondness for fish.

The butterflies in this quilt are all hand embroidered, but they were found by the quilter at a yard sale. They were purchased and ended up in this beautiful quilt.

The quilt below contains over 200 flying geese – the quilter stated it was “great practice”.

The blocks in the quilt below are each over 100 years old and hand sewn – the quilter who had these added the red sashing to make a quilt top out of it. I think these 100+ year old quilts are a great look into the past.

These next two quilts are “double wedding rings” – each one is bound completely different and each are beautiful examples of this pattern. Accuquilt has a nice little history of this quilt pattern here

I really like applique quilts because you can really see the artistry of the quilter.

Here’s just a few more quilts to give you an idea of the range of quilts at the show. The temperature quilt I believe I’m seeing more and more of recently.

Hope you enjoyed looking at these quilts and hopefully you can put this quilt show on your calendar next year, especially if you are in Oregon or Idaho.
